Meet Milagros, but you can call her Mimi, for short. Go ahead. Just ask her. She’ll tell you.
Mimi is about to turn 18 and is stuck between two worlds. Uneasy with her family’s values, she has no interest in her Filipino roots and sees nothing wrong in her misplaced sense of identity. To compound matters, she keeps shuffling aside her American best friend, Kellie, who is curious about Mimi’s home life, filled with traditional art and cooking aromas.
Following a series of events, everything eventually boils over and she is forced to confront her heritage. Along the way she wakes up to discover who she is, understand where she came from, and learn how to stand tall and celebrate herself.
This is the story. And while the outcome of all of this is not hard to anticipate, the setting is new, the characters are lovable, and the plot provides plenty of excuses for seeing a spectacular blend of drama, humor, romance, music and DANCE.
